So, this is what happened

Postby Neitz » Tue Jul 07, 2015 5:00 pm

I am so sorry that all of this happened. Basically I stuffed up in a big way and as I tried to fix it things got worse. What happened is that I upgraded Tapatalk. But it wouldn't work for some reason. So I upgraded the forum, but Tapatalk still wouldn't install. At this stage the forum was working but Tapatalk wasn't. So I did a different upgrade to the newest phpbb board. However after I did the upgrade I discovered that the php component wasn't compatible with the upgrade I did. So I tried to undo what I did. This is where things got a bit crazy because I deleted the wrong thing and accidentally uploaded a whole directory from my computer. It took me ages to deleted all the files that were uploaded from my computer. So I had to do a clean install of the forum. I was then going to use the back up I'd made to get the original forum back but I either did the wrong back up or it didn't work properly. So basically we are starting from scratch again. I'll be working on Tapatalk later tonight as I have install a mod to upload it. Will let you know when it is available again.

The bad news:
* All our brilliance from the last however many years has been lost.
* The pink forum style has been lost
* Everyone, including me has to re-register.

The good news:
* The quick reply box is back.
* I can open registrations again, as I can use a question to eliminate spambots and also I am going to enable the first post review again to eliminate human spammers.
* People can change their usernames if they desire and be as anonymous as they want this time.

It's all good, Anita. I got confused just reading that, and quite honestly, I'm thinking there was not a whole lot of brilliance back there anyhow. I was very sad thinking you might have become frustrated enough to give up on the whole thing, so I am thrilled you put so much work in and brought it back!

Honestly Lynn, I was about to ditch and say let's just use Facebook. But then I managed to get most of it sorted.

Thanks for all your hard work Anita. It sounds horrible. Also a big thanks for getting a message through to me, very much appreciated.

I would have made the same suggestion if we could have dragged Emma back to FB.

I'm glad you got my messages. I was hoping that you were still in contact with Angela.
